Carrie and Jonny’s engagement session will be the first post on my new blog!  This makes me incredibly happy, as Carrie is a dear friend of mine who I rarely get to see due to the fact that she lives just about as far away from Charleston as you can possibly get without leaving the country – San Francisco.  We were great friends in high school and then lived together during college, when we both found ourselves jumping head first into a brand new adventure together at Chapel Hill.  I will forever be grateful for her support and kindness during those years and was thrilled when she asked me to photograph her wedding!

She and Jonny were only in Charleston for a short week but we made sure to find time for a fun day on Edisto Island, where we took their engagement portraits. I gotta say, it was a pretty incredible day.  We wandered all throughout the island – enjoying beautiful dirt roads lined with ancient live oak trees, admiring the rustic scenery provided by an old house where Nicholas Spark’s famous love story, “The Notebook,” was filmed and ending the day with a beautiful golden sun dipping into the ocean at Botany Bay, a natural treasure of driftwood scattering the sandy beach and being swallowed by the waves.  The beauty was almost as overwhelming as the love I could so clearly see between the couple in front of my lens.

Thank you, Carrie and Jonny, for being so fun and easy to work with!  I’m really happy for these two and look forward to their wedding in May!

I would also like to thank the super talented and always generous Teresa Earnest of The Wedding Studios and memoriesNmore photography in Savannah, Ga for helping me learn lightroom, a super fun editing tool that I have never used in the photojournalism world.  She has been a truly wonderful mentor and most of what I know about weddings has come from her!  I can’t write enough lovely words about Teresa and her generous spirit!  Thank you Teresa!
